Stand Clear of the Closing Doors 2013

Danny Matos was born and raised in New York City. He’s always had an interest in poetry and words in particular. At one point, extremely self-conscious, he was reluctant to pursue his passion for many years. He began performing at open mic events this past fall in November 2012, and thus far, he has performed at Mike Geffner's Inspired Word, The Nuyorican Poet's Cafe, Rimes of The Ancient Mariner Month Spoken Word and Open Mic, Nicholas Brooklyn, Sneaker's and Ale Bi-Weekly Open Mic, Babble In the Bronx, and more. He is the winner of The 2013 Poetry Idol competition hosted by La Bruja, Caridad de la Luz. He believes words give us a purpose bigger than ourselves, and provides one of humanity's greatest needs- genuine and authentic connection.
